Read this when you have to turn down a business opportunity.
"You get many chances at business. They only get one childhood."
You can turn down the project. But you don’t get a second shot at the “Well done” assembly, sports day, or the proud little wave when they spot you in the crowd.
For me, success is being at the school activities. Being self-employed enables that. For you, it might look different. And that’s okay!
To give you a real example, I’ve been offered two incredible motorsport contracts. They would have involved travelling internationally, 14 weeks away from home per year. I wanted it so badly I ached.
I turned it down. Not because I’m not ambitious. But my reality meant the cost to the children was too high. Would I have taken if I had a supportive partner? A present co-parent? Unlimited childcare? Maybe.
But I don’t. So I said no.
It hurt, but I will travel for work again (I can feel it in my soul). Just not yet. Not now.
If you’re ambitious, but your life doesn’t look like everyone else’s, you need a coach who gets that.
I work with parents building bold businesses and raising tiny humans. I'll be there on the days it hurts to say no.
